In January to December, for the year 2022, Sri Lanka reported a total of 76689 dengue cases. The peak was observed in July with 11437 cases. The following data highlights the fluctuating trend of dengue across the 12 months.
Common Dengue Symptoms Include:
- High grade fever
- Severe headache
- Severe pain behind the eyes
- Joint pain
- Muscle pain
- Bone pain
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Rash
- And sometimes mild bleeding
Trend of Dengue Cases by Month
So far, 12 months of data have been analyzed. There were more increases than decreases in the reported dengue cases. The highest number of cases was 11437, recorded in July. The lowest number of cases was 2962, observed in February. On average, there were about 6390.75 cases per month. The average for the first half of the year was 5904, compared to 6877.5 for the second half. The largest month-to-month change was 4740 cases in February. Notable changes were observed in: February (-61.54% decrease), April (32.2% increase), May (61.31% increase), June (73.04% increase), August (-39.61% decrease), September (-34.46% decrease), December (51.35% increase). There was a 5-month streak of increases starting in March. There was a 3-month streak of increases starting in October.
